Coffee, Cameras and Landscapes : A Photography Obsession
Born and bred in Yorkshire, particular South Yorkshire (Sheffield to be precise), I have always been fond of taking photos. Since I was knee high to a grasshopper, I remember my father always having a camera in his hand whenever we were on our holidays. For many years, I’ve honed my skills with many cameras where finally I treated myself to my first DSLR, being a Nikon D7200 along with a few drones to enable me to get a different angle which has also resulted in my buying a Nikon z6ii, which is a phenomenal piece of kit…!
A few years back, my family and I made the exciting move to Cornwall. This county, with its dramatic coastlines, charming coves, and ever-changing light, is a landscape photographer's dream. Every day, I'm out exploring the South West Coast Path or perched on a clifftop, camera at the ready, (with a coffee of course) capturing the raw beauty and unique character of this place. but now I’ve got to learn for Cornish lingo with sayings like ‘ansome’, ‘dreckly’ and ‘proper job’.
Landscape photography has always been my passion. I love the different colours and textures which are cast onto the landscape depending on the weather conditions, the way the sea breaks over the rocks or travels round rock formations where I love to take long exposures to capture the patterns left by the tide.
While the technical aspects of photography are important, (and i’m still learning), it's the emotional connection that truly matters to me. I'm captivated by the way light dances across the landscape, transforming a scene from ordinary to extraordinary. My goal is to evoke a sense of wonder and appreciation for the natural world in those who view my work.
